As 2023 comes to a close, I am humbled and grateful to our community of supporters, volunteers, followers, charity partners, and Red String staff. Together, we are working to help the most vulnerable among us get the resources and support they need, the respect and dignity they deserve, and the opportunities to thrive.
It is only because of you that we are able to help so many in need.
2023 was our most successful year yet. We were able to distribute $50K in grants to local charities working with under-served youth to improve educational and life outcomes, assisting low-income families reach self-sufficiency, and caring for home-bound elderly persons. This represented an increase in our annual grant giving by 32 percent and a 60 percent increase in our average grant size. We exceeded our fundraising target by over 2x helping our long-term sustainability and growth. And, we continued to build on relationships through volunteering and participating with our partner charities.
Since our start in 2020, we have been able to invest over $150K within local communities, enhancing the livelihoods of people who live there.
Each year, I marvel at how people from all walks of life continue to rally together around a shared vision of a future. One where our society and socioeconomic system works for the benefit of all, rather than a few.
Our mission is rooted in the belief that the playing field of life is not level for everyone and that philanthropy and the non-profit sector have an important role to play in the pursuit for equity, and in the process, uplift lives and livelihoods. But, if we are to build a more equitable society that enables the most vulnerable among us to participate and benefit equally, we cannot do it alone.
This is why we are so grateful and incredibly proud of the important role you play in helping us pursue our mission. Whether you donated money or time to Red String, worked or volunteered with one of our partner charities, or just an avid follower of our story, every action, small or big, has helped us and those we touch in ways you cannot have imagined.
As we look to use 2023 as a stepping stone toward our future, 2024 promises to be a year of remarkable new chapters as we, together, continue to write our story in the year to come.
