My dad, Sam, celebrated his 98th birthday recently, which got me remembering my mom, Gladys, who passed away last year, and my brother, Jeff, who passed away in 2019. It also got me thinking about their lifetime commitment and dedication of giving back and building community.

It is with this sentiment that all of us at the foundation decided to rename the Jeff Adachi Legacy Project (JALP) to the Adachi Family Legacy Project (AFLP) to better reflect and honor the family's enduring spirit and impact of giving and caring.
By being present, helping those in need, and instilling these values to everyone they touched, Sam and Gladys created a legacy of action. Their example continues to guide our work at the foundation —reminding us that real change begins with compassion, dignity, and the belief that change begins with care.

The Adachi Family Legacy Project will continue to invest in the San Francisco Bay Area, with plans to expand into Sacramento—deepening our commitment to community empowerment across regions. Through strategic and purposeful selection of community-based nonprofit partner organizations, we aim to uplift underserved voices and champion solutions that reflect and respond to the real needs of their local constituents. From youth education and development to senior wellness, legal advocacy to community service, this initiative seeks to honor the full breadth of the Adachi family’s enduring impact and values in the communities they called home.
We invite you to walk with us as we carry their legacy forward.
